Somatic lung progenitor cell/polymer constructs are disclosed along with methods for isolating somatic lung progenitor cells from adult mammals, seeding the cells onto or into polymeric scaffolds and allowing the cells to differentiate and proliferate into functional lung tissue/polymer implants.
